Making a restoration tangible
With a history spanning 160 years, the Mineralbad Berg in Stuttgart has achieved a cult status. When renovating this traditional bathhouse, the architects at 4a were tasked with preserving its unique retro charm while also giving it a contemporary makeover inspired by the 1950s. In terms of design and technical implementation, it was important to find the right balance between preservation, renewal and expansion.
In the video, the project manager, Matthias Burkart from 4a Architekten, looks back on the four-year construction period. He shows what Stuttgart's oldest baths look like today and talks about his personal relationship with the “Bad Berg”.
Once again, this demonstrates the particular strength of video formats in visualising impressions and bringing them to life in an entertaining way.
The video, which has English subtitles, has been published nationally and internationally on numerous occasions, including on the widely read architecture and design portal dezeen.
